From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
