Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
